Das PDS II Nahtmaterial ist ein steriles, synthetisches, resorbierbares monofiles Nahtmaterial, das aus Polyester (p-Dioxanon) hergestellt wird. PDS II Nahtmaterial ist für die Verwendung bei der allgemeinen Adaption von Weichgewebe bestimmt, einschließlich bei kardiovaskulärem Gewebe, in der Mikrochirurgie und in der Augenchirurgie. Diese Nahtmaterialien sind besonders sinnvoll, wenn die Kombination aus resorbierbarem Nahtmaterial und längerfristiger Reißfestigkeit (bis zu sechs Wochen) wünschenswert ist. Dieses Nahtmaterial sollten aufgrund seiner Resorbierbarkeit nicht für die längerfristige (länger als 6 Wochen) Adaption von Geweben unter Belastung oder in Verbindung mit prothetischen Produkten, z. B. Herzklappen oder synthetischen Transplantaten, verwendet werden.¹
